Flooring and back wall for new den
On 27 September, we began the construction of a new forest enclosure for a sun bear called Mely at Samboja Lestari. The enclosure will be made of a 150m long fence and a den, it is now about 50% completed and we hope to be able to move Mely to her new home on the first week of December.

Mely is a little female bear who likes human company but is very aggressive towards other bears. We tried many times to socialize her with other females or males, but it has never worked out. Mely will thus get her own individual forest enclosure close to the staff quarters where she will get lots of attention and will not feel threatened by other bears.

This project is made possible thanks to the help of the King Living Foundation and BOS Australia.
